A Nairobi man has been accused of receiving money from a kidney patient with a promise he would assist him in undergoing a transplant in India. The accused, Stanley Macharia, was charged with obtaining Sh1.7 million from Daniel Karichu. He is said to have pretended he was in a position to facilitate Kirachu’s travel to India for a transplant

The accused is said to have committed the offense between July and August. Consequently, he was charged with presenting himself as a doctor. Macharia is also accused of faking a declaration of consent affidavit.

Karichu has been battling kidney disease for more than 15 years and needs a transplant. He used to send money to an account provided by Macharia.
The detective further added that Macharia had not been cooperating with officers during the probe. Macharia denied the charges and was remanded pending a ruling on his release terms.
